Club News:

The next Miles Greenwood meeting will be held Tuesday, April 17th, at 7:30pm. We will meet at the Wyoming Ohio Fire Station, 600 Grove Avenue near Wyoming Avenue. The fire station is behind Sturkey’s Restaurant (now Encore Bistro and Bar). Parking is across the street in the public arts lot. Use the front public entrance to the Safety Service Building.

For our May meeting, we will visit the Central Joint Fire & EMS District, Station 1, 2401 Old State Route 32, Batavia, OH. Clermont County. Take I-275 East to the Batavia (Rt. 32) exit. Continue east on Rt. 32 past Batavia and up the hill past Bauer Rd. (Mercy Hospital Clermont) to the next intersection Herold Rd. (no traffic light). Turn right onto Herold, go to the stop sign. Turn left on to OLD State Route 32. The firehouse will be on the right. (2401 Old State Route 32) Enter the first drive on the right and park where possible (the lot is under construction). Enter the station through the doors beneath canopy to the training room. Thanks to Mark Rembis for organizing the visit!

The 2007 Auction and Flea Market was a great success! A big thanks to all who participated especially the vendors and volunteers for making it a super event.

LAST CALL! Hamilton County Fair Safety Director Jeff Klei attended the February meeting to invite club members to display fire apparatus at the 2007 Hamilton County Fair in Carthage. The Fair will be August 1-5. A 160 x 60’ building is available to display apparatus and fire equipment indoors or outside. The building will be locked each night and security on site 24/7 during the Fair. You would be asked to move your apparatus in on July 31 and remove the trucks on August 6 or 7. Mr. Klei would like to know how much space to reserve before APRIL. Please contact Jeff Placke at your earliest convenience if you are interested.

Planning for the 2007 Miles Greenwood Muster at the Child Wellness Fair is in full swing. Bonnie Manning will be heading the committee to organize the muster. If you are interested in helping out, please let Bonnie know. This event will be held (June16 & 17 Fathers Day) with pumping from Lake Como on Sunday. Let’s get the apparatus shined up for a big weekend!

Our webmaster Bill Strite would like remind the membership to continue to submit photos & information to publish on the club website. Bill can be reached at webmaster@milesgreenwood.org

Friday, March 02, 2007 - I am restoring the 1st fire truck our department purchased in 1951. I have located all the parts that have been lost over the last 55 years except for three Hardie nozzle brackets (see attached picture). Is there any chance you could share my search request with you members to assist us with the parts? We are willing to purchase the brackets once they can be located. We have been searching locally for several years without luck. Here is the link to our fire truck web site: http://rides.webshots.com/album/483681592tjBocg. Thank you for your time with this important matter. Sincerely, Bill Bailey ThaliaVolunteerFD@cox.net, TVFD 407 Thalia Road Virginia Beach, Va. 23452-1835,Phone: 757-288-5761

MACK motor wanted: I am looking for a ENF510A motor in running condition that I can put into my chassis. I would prefer a running motor but will consider one that is not running if it has minor problems and can be repaired quickly. I will also consider other Mack motors such as a 707 or END510 if it is running and it only needs to be installed. Will pay cash and can pick up in the Eastern US, I can also make arrangements to have it picked up if it to far for me to drive. Contact: David at latigo@bellsouth.net. (3/29/2007)
